Fillings Port Macquarie

So, you have a cavity – what now? Well, the good news is that the number of people that are getting cavities has reduced as people can look after their teeth better and with regular check-ups and cleans we can reduce this even further. But if you do have a cavity you will need a filling. If you have a cavity, you may notice some slight pain or sensitivity when eating or drinking – come in and see us straight away. If you ignore a cavity, it will become a bigger issue, and you may end up needing a crown or even Root Canal Therapy.

A filling may also be required if you have chipped or broken off a small part of your tooth or need to replace an old filling. You may even want to replace an old amalgam filling from a silver filling to a tooth coloured filling to improve your smile.

What happens if I need a filling?

Firstly we need to prepare the area of the tooth that requires a filling by gently removing the part of the tooth structure that is damaged. We then decide what type of filling is required. There are two different types of fillings that we do here at TL Dental – direct fillings and indirect fillings.

Direct Fillings

If it is only a small part of the tooth structure that needs to be replaced, we will do a direct filling. Direct fillings (as the name states) are made directly in the mouth out of a tooth coloured composite material. You will hardly notice that it is there and these will generally last about 5 to 10 years with regular check ups and cleans.

Indirect Fillings

f you require a larger filling or are replacing an existing large filling, we will do an indirect filling. These are made out of a porcelain material the same shape and colour as your natural tooth. We can do these due to our investment in the latest dental technology using our CEREC machine. We also give you a 7-year warranty on our indirect fillings.

Both types of fillings are done in just one appointment, the cost will vary depending on the size and type of the filling. Your healthfund will usually cover part of the cost of your filling, call us today to see how we can help restore your beautiful smile.
