Is our registered specialist paediatric dentist. Dr Tay graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) from the University of Melbourne, and after several years of working in both the private and public sectors in Sydney, she went on to pursue her passion in paediatric dentistry, successfully attaining her Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (paediatric dentistry) from The University of Sydney. Her research thesis was based on frenotomies and its effectiveness on infants with tongue-ties and feeding difficulties.
Dr Tay works at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney where she thoroughly enjoys managing a range of cases in which her main clinical interests lie; the management of special needs and medically compromised children, paediatric oral medicine and pathology and dental trauma.
Dr Tay is actively committed to continuing education and teaching, maintaining her role as Clinical Associate Lecturer with The University of Sydney and lectures to both her medical and dental colleagues. She also works in private practice at the Specialist Dental Suite in Parramatta (Sydney) and Port Macquarie.
Dr Berne is a Wauchope local, having completed her schooling there until she left the coast to complete her dental studies at Charles Sturt University. Her love of Port Macquarie and its community, amazing weather and lifestyle quickly saw her return as soon as she was awarded her degree in Dentistry. Her passion for all things teeth related started at an early age which she attributes to her uncle, also a dentist. You could say that dentistry is in Dr Berne’s genes. One of her favourite aspects of her work is helping anxious patients regain their trust in dentists by providing a relaxing, positive and caring approach. But there is so much more she enjoys, including meeting new people, getting to know their stories and creating beautiful smiles for her patients with her flair teeth straightening and cosmetic dentistry.
